Spondylus americanus Hermann 1781 Gorgeous Superb Long spines! F+++ 120 mm. Including the spines. Body size 75 mm. Very beautiful. Upper and lower valve white color with pale orange umbo, attractive almost perfect very long spines and rays of small sharp body spines in upper and lower valve. Blue body and tones of brown color whorls with pale yellowish soft band, attractive sculpture with cream ribs and nodulose cords on low body. Very tick full mature yellowish/cream base with dark gray basal blotch. Cream, pale yellow, blackish ribbed aperture and thick lip. Self collected on sea grass at shallow water.
